Today marks one year since !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! made his last post. Word is he’s still alive and well, just too busy to waste time here like the rest of us, but we’ll pour one out nonetheless.

Such is the nature of an internet forum like Oppo, where our identity to others often only consists of ones and zeros.

I actually drafted a Oppo death policy that included a black banner that would be displayed for a few days, a funeral post that would include pictures of cars the deseased liked, where people could comment memories.

Of course we’d need a way to know you’re dead. I have a few Oppo friends on Facebook, as soon as they figure it out they would have to notify the Oppo.

Yeah he seems alive and well, happen to have made friends on fb before he left here. His hiatus also means I’m (again) the only guy with a 505 on oppo - at least that I know of.

i actually met him on the way back from Red Bull Frozen Rush a couple yrs ago. My buddy and I stopped by his local bar for a bowl of Lobster Chowder which was amazing and a beer.

Since I first stumbled onto the scene in 2008, I’ve seen countless revered Opponauts come and go. Mostly it’s due to shifting priorities and life circumstances. I myself am rarely around these days, and in my case, it’s because of a job change a couple years ago.

I’m trying to get him to come to Muddy Chef this year, we’ll see if he shows.

Also he has a property that requires a lot of work so I’m sure that’s why he’s not been on Oppo for a while.

I was gone for three years, everyone has their reasons. Kinja was shit when it was released, and that’s why I left. I stayed away because I was too busy doing a job I hated. Although, browsing oppo at 4 AM would have made the oil field more enjoyable.

There was normal contact until exactly 1 year ago and then suddenly, nothing. So no arguments, no nothing. I would’ve loved to have a beer sometimes later this month, but I doubt that’s happening now.
